/ About the project

People don’t typically associate hotels with the outdoors. They think of home, gear, or national parks. Marriott Bonvoy’s opportunity was to shift that perception—positioning itself as an extension of the backyard: travel that feels familiar, flexible, and close to home, rather than distant or escapist.

The campaign explores how a global hospitality brand can shift from destination-based messaging to lifestyle-based storytelling. Through visual direction, environmental composition, and moments of quiet familiarity, the campaign builds a bridge between home life and travel life—collapsing the emotional gap between the two. At its core, “Backyard” is not about redefining hotels. It’s about redefining proximity.
